♪ Songs of Hope Memorial Concert
~10 Years Since the Disaster Brought Us Together~
It’s been 10 years since the East Japan Disaster and so 10 years since Songs of Hope was founded. We’re holding an online concert to reflect on all of the meetings that have come out of our activities.
The concert line-up includes a new performance—this time with a string orchestra—of the chorus song “Gunjo” (Azure), first performed by the Chorus of Hope at our 5th memorial concert in 2016. We'll also present a kids' dance, a new song from Yilina, a professional singer who moved to Japan after falling in love with folk songs from the Tohoku region and now serves as a bridge between Japan and Inner Mongolia, a performance by Marié Rossano, violinist for the New York Philharmonic who has been with Songs of Hope since the inaugural concert, and more.
We’ll also show scenes of recovery from Matsushima and a message from the father of Taylor Anderson, an American teacher who lost her life in the 2011 disaster.
March 12th (Fri.) 8 pm (PST), 13th (Sat.) 1 pm (Japan)
